Domestic Violence

"The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself."

If you are or have been a victim of domestic violence, you're not alone. Domestic violence is the single most common cause of injury to women in the United States. Through the use of fear and threats of violence a spouse or partner manipulates and controls. The beginning of your relationship was probably a loving and exciting one. Over time though, the love turns to fear, pain and shame.

Many times verbal and emotional abuse can escalate to physical violence. This is a scary and confusing time for you. Leaving an abusive relationship can be very hard to do. You may be convinced that your spouse or significant other may harm or kill you or your loved ones if you try to leave. Together, we will come up with a safe plan of action for you and your children while providing the needed support for you to live a safe and happy future.

While the physical injuries will eventually heal, the emotional scars can last a lifetime. I understand how difficult it is to share these horrific experiences with someone. You will find my office a warm, safe and friendly environment to express yourself at a pace with which you feel comfortable. Together we will redefine who you are by reestablishing you sense of self and inner confidence.
